Cassiopeia Dips Low

A blend of no fewer than four light sources contribute to this picture. To the left is the light dome of distant New Germany MN, to the right the glow from Minneapolis. In the center, due North, the green glow of aurora. The cluster of five bright arcs at the bottom of their circumpolar travel are the stars of the Cassiopeia W.

The blue-green glare makes it look like aliens have landed at the farmhouse; it's just the mercury security lamp, one more contribution to the local skylight.
